In This Terrible Happiness, set in a small town in Virginia, we meet fifteen people in different stages of their lives. With great warmth and serene melancholy, this multi-perspective novel draws a vivid picture of the longing for intimacy and of the at times desperate attempts to reach it. It tenderly embraces us as readers – as if it tells of ourselves, our families, our friends.
