From 2013 to the present, Ella & pitr have placed nearly a hundred »sleeping giants« – silent witnesses to the chaos of megacities – on rooftops and parking lots in numerous cities around the world. These giants are there but cannot be seen from the ground, so you’ll need to gain a little height.
An invitation to strap on your parachute, mount your celestial steed, or search the cloud of the internet to catch a glimpse of these oversized sleepers. This immense family has been brought together in the book Gros comme ça, répertoire chronologique de nos géants (As Big as That: A Chronological Directory of Our Giants), which is currently out of print.
Each drawing measures several thousand square meters, and creating them can take several weeks. Friends, volunteers, or unexpected encounters sometimes lend a hand under the blazing sun. Equipped with brooms, brushes, and sprayers, they paint large abstract surfaces and then reveal the figure’s outline using a drone once the work is complete.
