Yala is authentic Greek ice cream — perfected in Greece, churned in America. Rooted in heritage, Yala set out to bring a more joyful, welcoming expression of Greek ice cream to the U.S., beginning with their scoop shop in Washington, D.C., and now growing toward retail shelves.

At the center of Yala is Papou, the founder’s grandfather — the kind of man who always made room at the table, greeted everyone like family, and wore a crisp white t-shirt with a sprig of basil tucked behind his ear. His warmth and generosity became the brand’s guiding lights.

Yala approached Herefor to translate that spirit into a fully realized brand world, one that’s inviting, playful, and deeply rooted in tradition.

Herefor built a visual system that takes cues from the shapes and structure of Greek architecture and paired it with a fresh, modern color palette that nods to the coastal hues of Greece. The typographic system references hand-painted signage found in early 20th-century Greek American soda shops and ice cream parlors.
